Apple NOT Developing a Cheaper iPhone

TWALKITOUT: Earlier this week internet was pouring with the rumors and reports of Apple coming up with the concept of cheaper iPhone to counter its competitors launching devices in a variety of cost bands. But an interview Apple Marketing SVP Phil Schiller gave to the Shanghai Evening News (link via Google Translate) seems to refute the rumors. (TNW confirmed with Apple that this was an official interview).

Schiller told the newspaper that Apple is not focused on issuing a less expensive version of its smartphone to grab market share: “We are not like other companies, launching multiple products at once, then hoping one will get the attention of consumers,” Schiller said.(source: Tech Crunch)

You could still get an older iPhone at lesser price for the quality and design of the product. That is how Apple would like to stay in the market rather than following Gorilla Marketing Strategy to go up against the cheaper Android phones in the market, offering low cost devices with comparatively less features and commitment.
