Companies and consultancies ask for details like academic percentages, preferred locations, CTC and all sorts of questions which are required. But here comes the bottle-neck. We have seen an increased trend of companies and consultants asking for PAN Card details as a must with the resume of the one applying for the job. Is it really necessary for a job seeker moreover a fresher to share his PAN details on his/her job profile? And that even just to apply for the job with no confirmation of even facing an interview to prove their worth. Is it alright to Share PAN card for interview?

Is it a fair requirement of the corporate sector, or some companies are playing a trick collecting the PAN Card details of job seekers to present as potential work-force ready to be scaled up at any point of time to their clients? Is it again some sort of information collection hoax that could be sold out for minting money? To mention again, its okay after confirmation of job with your employer, but asking for PAN Card Details at the time of applying for the job?

Reputed IT companies and MNC’s in India do ask for such detail, but it’s a part of joining formality process, which seems fair enough as it commences after getting a valid offer letter. It’s fair enough to provide the PAN card information to a company or a consultancy after running a proper check on their past records.

Name, mobile number, address, qualification, income and PAN Card detail would immensely increase the cost of data per person provided if anyone would become interested to buy it for any means. This point has also been made earlier by Travel-o-Rama.

ya this has become a pain. Pleople just call on the phone and will ask for PAN number saying they are calling from consultancy and the have to provide pan details to company for applying for the job. This is crazy. How can these corporate companies follow such a thing. I usual tell them no.

I think its not fair for companies to request PAN over the phone, I would rather feel safe if its over an email, then the candidate will have time to check if the call was really authentic enough.
