Government invites Developers to make m-Gov Apps

TWALKITOUT: Indian government has advanced ahead and invited developers to work on citizen service mobile applications. Government has also announced and app development contest inviting developers to work on specified applications and win prize money. Government invites Developers to make m-Gov Apps and winners walk away with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.

The apps need to be built on top of C-DACs mobile service delivery gateway for Android. So far, there is no word on iOS on the government portal.

This is a unique approach by the Indian government, to tap the potential of Indian developers and get public services closer to the common man. Although there are a lot of pros and cons to this but it’s astounding and examplary act from the government to get into this sector.
