TWALKITOUT: As India’s outbound travel industry breaks all previous records even in the period of slow down, it’s labeled as one of the ‘fastest growing’. “By 2020, Asian middle affluent consumers in China, India, Indonesia will consist of 46 per cent of Asia Pacific’s population, take 160 million outbound trips per year, spend US$300 billion on travel annually and form 25 per cent of global outbound tourism expenditure”, mentioned in a joint study by Singapore Tourism Board, the Boston Consulting Group and Visa.
About Acamor Journeys
Tapping India’s outbound travel industry, experiential and offbeat travel startup Acamor Journeys emphasizes on outbound travel (travel to destinations outside India). They don’t hesitate to offer you experiences that include journeys in Mongolia, the trans-Siberian railway experience, expeditions to Galapagos Islands, chateau stays in France and many more offbeat destinations. Acamor Journeys offers bespoke travel services to clients who like to have personalized itineraries as well as announce signature journeys from time to time.
Ankur Agarwal, Anil Kumar and Ishmeet Singhone, the co-founders are 3 entrepreneurs with diverse backgrounds together under one roof, with their common passion for travel. It’s a team of widely traveled entrepreneurs, between the 3 of them, they have studied at IIT, Wharton, Cambridge, worked in Microsoft, BCG, Standard Chartered, Wipro and the list could go a li’l longer.
How it Works
Acamor Journeys is a bootstrapped venture that came into existence in late 2011 via small investments from co-founder’s own pockets. Although, soon after, it surfaced with a seed round which was a co-investment by a new fund in India and an angel investor in the US.
They largely depend for business upon calls and reference from various travel agents who have tied up with them for services. They also believe in pipelining the social network following and hence look for SMM profitability. Ankur informed that they had plans to roll out full-fledged website serving all needs by the end of this year
What’s on your balance Sheet?
For a question as a fancy as that, Ankur stands out from the crowd,” We started operating in mid-2012 and became fully functional in January 2013. As of June 2013, more than 100 travelers had traveled with Acamor Journeys to more than 15 countries, and the turnover of the company had crossed Rs. 1.5 crores.”
Plans about Expansion
Acamor Journeys seems to have set their feet deep into the bedrock and plans to expand over online presence to build a bigger network ad serving platform for their travelers. Keeping the need of hour in mind, online presence and right marketing do strike the perfect chord for an offbeat business like theirs.
Forecasts for the outbound as well as offbeat travel are massive. Analysts mark this segment of travel as a hotspot at least in India with no major rooted players trying to market themselves to occupy any major share. Acamor Journeys looks like a neatly sorted out venture ready to set foot on ladders one by one. In my views, right marketing and segmented consumer involvement strategies falling in place would attract more traction. All in all, they have a wide gap to fill. We wish them all the best!!
