Past 1 year has been phenomenal as I completed 1 year of Blogging today on 6th December 2013.
Yes, this is a Facebook status turned article, not really fine tuned on grammar. While jotting these words down, I couldn’t resist myself from penning every word down as every moment kept pouring out and I realized, a lot of things have changed in past one year!
First things First:
If it has to be about blogging, I have published 160 Articles on my blog http://twalkitout.com , a couple of posts on The Rodinhoods, a community of inspired entrepreneurs and a lot of other places, and around 50 ghost writing jobs( when your posts get published with someone else’s name) which I guess is not of much interest to many.
Making a Living out of Blogging:
I never had a clue about when a hobby of writing one liners and storytelling would turn into writing and yes I did make a living out of writing blogs for a short span of time in this past one year. Nobody would pay a newbie, so I tested my hands on my own blog, my companion, my friend, my buddy twalkitout.com, trust me, it feels awesome when you get to know that people read your articles after finding them on Google searches. And your buddies who like your posts and share them everyday are the real heroes of the story!!
Once things started to look pretty, I wrote for tech, food, gadget review, parenting, social media and yes, startup story blogs. And they helped me earn a living while opening portals of immense knowledge and info. There were times when getting paid for the work got tougher, or I couldn’t really fall in sync with what exactly was required. But that’s a part of every trade of skill around the globe.
Learning new things:
OK, anyone can pen down a few words, what special did I do? Or what did I do to at least feel special about? Well, I learnt 1% of how the Internet actually works, what makes it an inseparable part of our lives and how this sentiment is USED TO SELL!! Other than this, I learnt some essentials of blogging like WordPress, playing around with themes, plugins, editing their codes and modifying the creative commons stuff free to my will. Learnt the not so shady SEO, and I term it as one of the most important and abused terms around the globe. Learnt how people read and relate to products, how we consume product education with entertainment or topics of our interest and consequently, I learnt 5% of Social Media. (this 5% is a part of my livelihood)
Complete Professional Overhaul:
Ok as I recall, one year in the past “6th December 2012”, I was an Engineer writing code and scripts, making machines dance to my manager’s finger tips, shifting projects, stamped with a technology for life, with a pre-planned secure happy ending. But to my surprise, I started blogging, writing, testing, and experimenting, moreover, I STARTED CREATING.
I am not a millionaire now nor am I a co-founder of heavily funded startup with investors and capitalists, but I am falling in sync with the tune of my life better. I am a Blogger running a startup at a place quite better than a garage, with all I learnt in past one year.
